This unusual bottling of WhistlePig Boss Hog is the recalled version of the 4th Edition “The Black Prince” Straight Rye Whiskey. Commonly referred to as the “skinny pig” version of the product, the original thin pig on the topper often broke in transport and was recalled in favor of a thicker, sturdier topper that could withstand shipping. This rare bottle is the original topper that was not returned after the recall.
Released in 2017, The Black Prince is a 14-year-old Indiana straight rye whiskey distilled at Midwest Grain Products (MGP). After aging in new oak, the whiskey was finished in Armagnac barrels. The Black Prince is named for England’s 14th-century Prince Edward of Woodstock, who had an affinity for Armagnac.
